Description
HelpFrame Knowledge Base turns existing WordPress content into a structured documentation hub. Build navigation from Pages, Posts, Custom Posts, Categories, and custom taxonomies. Create the default Documentation page and separate documentation collections for different audiences, products, or support topics.
- Add published Pages, Posts, and Custom Posts from public custom post types such as Products, Events, Courses, or Portfolio items.
- Add categories and public custom taxonomies, including product categories.
- Arrange items with drag and drop or accessible Move up, Move down, and Add buttons.
- Create custom section labels and build a hierarchy up to three levels deep.
- Preview navigation, article content, and the table of contents while editing.
- Choose Classic, Clean, Editorial, or Minimal styling for the documentation hub.
- Include Heading 2 and Heading 3 in the right-side table of contents by default.
- Optionally include Heading 4 and FAQ questions created with Details blocks.
- Use responsive navigation controls on tablets and phones.
- Create named documentation collections with independent content structure, style, and table-of-contents settings.
- Copy a collection-specific shortcode to display each collection on any page or post.
- Optionally add selected collections to a navigation bar at the top of the default Documentation page.
Adding a category or taxonomy term creates a dynamic group. Published content assigned to that term is displayed automatically in alphabetical order, so the navigation stays current as content changes. If an item is also placed manually in the structure, the manual placement takes priority and the item is not repeated inside the group.
The documentation layout expands beyond narrow theme content columns on wide screens, while keeping a readable maximum width and a single-column layout on smaller screens.
Installation
- Upload the plugin ZIP through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Activate HelpFrame Knowledge Base.
- Open HelpFrame Knowledge Base in the WordPress admin menu.
- Add Pages, Posts, Custom Posts, Categories, or custom taxonomy terms to the Documentation structure.
- Choose the visual style and table-of-contents options, then save.
- Use Publish Documentation page when the default hub is ready.
- Add a documentation collection above the builder to create an independent structure. Copy its shortcode into any page or post when ready.
The plugin creates a draft Documentation page during activation and uses it automatically. The default Documentation structure remains separate from named collections. Each collection has its own structure and display settings. Its shortcode is shown above the builder; add it to a Shortcode block or other shortcode-enabled area. Select collections in the default builder if you also want them listed in the Documentation page navigation bar.
FAQ
-
What is a documentation collection?
-
A collection is a separately configured documentation structure. It has its own navigation, style, and table-of-contents options. Use its displayed shortcode to place it on any page or post.
-
Can a collection also appear on the Documentation page?
-
Yes. Select the collection in the Documentation page settings. It will appear in the top navigation on the default Documentation view. The bar is not shown while a named collection is open.
-
What content can I add?
-
Published Pages and Posts, Custom Posts from public custom post types such as Products, public taxonomy terms such as product categories, and custom section labels.
-
What happens when I add a category or taxonomy term?
-
The term appears as a navigation group and its published content is loaded dynamically in alphabetical order. Items you place manually are not duplicated inside the group.
-
Which elements appear under On this page?
-
Heading 2 and Heading 3 are enabled by default. You can also enable Heading 4 and FAQ questions created with WordPress Details blocks.
-
Do the four styles change the documentation content?
-
No. All four styles use the same documentation content and hierarchy; they change visual presentation only.
-
Does the plugin copy my content?
-
No. It reads and displays the current content of the selected pages and posts. Your original content remains unchanged.
