If you have an image in the body of your post, Facebook will use that as the share image, but what if you don\u2019t have any images in your post or want to specify an image you\u2019re not using in the content? To solve this problem, I created a WordPress plugin that allows you to control which image shows when a link from your WordPress site is shared on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.farinspace.com\/wpalchemy-metabox\/\">Dimas Begunoff<\/a> for the amazingly helpful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.farinspace.com\/wpalchemy-metabox\/\">WPAlchemy MetaBox PHP Class<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m using the <code>&lt;link rel=\"image_src\" href=\"\u2026\" \/&gt;<\/code> approach. If you\u2019re adding more Open Graph meta tags to your <code>&lt;head&gt;<\/code>, you\u2019d probably want to use <code>&lt;meta property=\"og:image\" content=\"\u2026\" \/&gt;<\/code>, but in that case you probably also don\u2019t need this plugin.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re using any other plugins that add sharing info, Open Graph tags, or similar, this plugin will probably conflict with those.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>For questions, comments, or bugs, you can reach me at <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/Overlapping\">@Overlapping<\/a> or OverlappingElvis [at] gmail [dot] com.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt>I uploaded an image but it's still pulling my post thumbnail or first image from post!<\/dt>\n<dd><p>Uncheck the appropriate box in the panel on the post editing screen.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt>Why use link rel=\"image_src\" instead of meta property=\"og:image\"?<\/dt>\n<dd><p>Because that's what I'm used to using. If you can tell me why I should use <code>&lt;meta property=\"og:image\" content=\"\u2026\" \/&gt;<\/code>, I'm totally open to change.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt>Shouldn't you always set a sharing image?<\/dt>\n<dd><p>Probably, yeah.
