## Description

FacileConsenso (formerly ConsensoSmart) is the WordPress plugin for collecting simple
electronic signatures on release forms, privacy consents and declarations. It is
designed for freelancers and small Italian businesses: physiotherapists and doctors,
beauty and wellness centers, tattoo studios, real estate agencies, technical firms,
rental businesses, private schools and sports associations.

**Your data stays on your site.** Everything lives inside your WordPress site: no
external service, no mandatory SaaS subscription. Signed documents, signatures and
consent proofs are stored in your own database, not on someone else’s servers.

**How it works**

 1. Choose a document template (release form, privacy consent, minor’s consent) and
    edit the text if needed
 2. Enter the signer’s details and generate a personal signing link
 3. Send the link via WhatsApp or email with one click
 4. The signer opens the link on their phone, tablet or computer, reads the document,
accepts the privacy consent and signs with a finger or the mouse
 5. You get the signed document, the PDF and the proof of consent: IP address, device,
timestamps, the exact text accepted and a unique hash that makes the document publicly
    verifiable

**What the free version includes**

 * Three ready-to-use templates: generic release form, privacy consent and minor’s
   consent, editable at sending time
 * Unlimited documents, single signature
 * Dashboard with documents waiting for a signature, signed documents and latest
   activity
 * Sent documents list with status, search, filters and sorting
 * Signed document page with a “Download the PDF” button, and a downloadable PDF
   with the signer’s identity
 * Public verification page with reference number and verification code
 * Proof of consent with the exact text the signer accepted
 * Main privacy consent checkbox with a link to your Privacy Policy
 * WhatsApp and email messages with editable text
 * Trash with restore
 * Mobile-friendly signing page and admin pages

**What the Pro version adds**

 * Managers: give access to your collaborators; each one sees only their own documents,
   contacts, lists and templates
 * Contact directory (private individuals and businesses), contact lists and bulk
   sending
 * Double signature (two parents or guardians, two business partners, two parties
to an agreement), with full proof of consent for each signer
 * Custom templates and a catalog of ready-made models for many sectors
 * Business profile with logo and VAT number on PDFs and signed pages, one for each
   manager
 * Advanced Privacy Policy: extra checkboxes, popups, and a separate Privacy Policy
   for each manager
 * PDF layout styles, proof of consent as JSON, CSV export and import, full backup
   and restore
 * App on your smartphone and automatic updates

**External services**

The free version makes no external calls whatsoever. The Pro version, sold separately,
communicates with our license server (demo.facile4web.it, operated by Facile4Web)
to verify the license and check for updates: only the license key and the domain
of the site are sent, never data about your contacts or signed documents.

**A note on AI assistance**

Parts of this plugin were developed with the assistance of AI coding tools, under
the direction and review of the author. All code has been tested and is maintained
by the author.

**Credits**

This plugin bundles [Signature Pad](https://github.com/szimek/signature_pad) by
Szymon Nowak, used for capturing the signature on screen, released under the MIT
license (compatible with this plugin’s GPLv2+ license).

## Installation

 1. Install the plugin from the WordPress “Add New Plugin” page, or upload the `consensosmart`
    folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`
 2. Activate it from the Plugins menu
 3. Open the “FacileConsenso” menu in the sidebar
 4. Go to “Invia documento” (Send document), choose a template, enter the signer’s
    details and send the link

No additional configuration is required. We recommend setting the link to your Privacy
Policy in the privacy consent text before sending the first document.

## FAQ

### Is this the same plugin as ConsensoSmart?

Yes. ConsensoSmart has been renamed FacileConsenso. Updating keeps all your documents,
signatures, contacts and settings exactly as they were.

### Do I need an external subscription to use the plugin?

No. The free version works entirely inside your WordPress site, with no mandatory
external services.

### Where is signers’ data stored?

In your WordPress site’s database, in tables created by the plugin. No data is sent
to third-party services, aside from sending the signing link via email or WhatsApp(
through the standard WhatsApp link, not a paid API).

### Does the signed document have legal value?

FacileConsenso collects a simple electronic signature with reinforced proof (IP
address, device, document hash, timestamps and the exact text accepted). It is not
a qualified electronic signature nor a “firma digitale”. For the specific legal
value in your use case, we recommend consulting a lawyer.

### Can the signer sign from a smartphone?

Yes, from a smartphone, a tablet or a computer. The signer opens the link received
via WhatsApp or email, signs with a finger or the mouse and can download the PDF
right away.

### Can I have two signers on the same document?

Yes, with the Pro version: useful for example for both parents of a minor, two business
partners, or two parties to an agreement.

### What happens to my data if I uninstall the plugin?

Deactivating or updating the plugin never touches your data. When you click “Delete”
on the WordPress Plugins page, data is removed only if you enabled “Delete all data
when I uninstall the plugin” in FacileConsenso > Impostazioni (it is off by default).

## Changelog

#### 2.2.0

 * ConsensoSmart is now called FacileConsenso. Only the name changes: documents,
signatures, contacts, templates and settings stay exactly as they were.
 * The sentence “tracciato da ConsensoSmart” saved in your settings is updated to
the new name automatically; texts you wrote yourself are not touched.
 * New description and screenshots.

#### 2.1.8

 * Signed document page: a clear “Download the PDF” button right at the top, visible
   without scrolling on smartphones.
 * Signer identity is now shown with labels under every signature, on the signed
page and in the PDF (e.g. “Nome e Cognome: … Codice Fiscale: …”). The text of
   the documents is unchanged.
 * Long verification codes no longer cause horizontal scrolling on the signed page.
 * Shared consent functions so the Pro add-on can record the full proof of consent
   for double signatures too.

#### 2.1.7

 * The product name is now defined in a single place (menus, page titles, emails,
signing pages and the manager role follow it automatically).
 * Privacy settings are read for the author of each document, so the Pro add-on
can let every manager use their own Privacy Policy (database update: new column
   for additional consent checkboxes).

#### 2.1.6

 * Styles for the new Managers page of the Pro add-on.
 * Uninstall with data removal also deletes the Managers data (last access, suspension).

#### 2.1.5

 * Styles for the “pin your category” feature of the Pro add-on (New template page).

#### 2.1.4

 * “Gestore ConsensoSmart” users now land on the ConsensoSmart Dashboard after login
instead of the WordPress profile page.
 * Fixed: on sites with WooCommerce, “Gestore ConsensoSmart” users were redirected
to the “My account” page after login (a 404 page when it does not exist) and
could not reach the plugin. WooCommerce customers are not affected.

#### 2.1.3

 * Customize email is now reserved to site administrators (the email style applies
to every user of the site). With the Pro add-on, Layout PDF is reserved to administrators
   too.
 * Dashboard checklist: the Privacy Policy step is shown only to administrators.

#### 2.1.2

 * New Settings page (last menu item) with the “data on uninstall” choice, moved
out of the Signed page appearance screen; clearer wording.
 * “Discover Pro” menu item hidden when the Pro add-on is installed.
 * The “Cliente ConsensoSmart” role is now called “Gestore ConsensoSmart” (same
role, same users, same permissions; only the name changes).
 * Trash: lists can now be restored or deleted from a new “Lists” tab (Pro); deleting
a list keeps its contacts in the address book.
 * Send document: contact suggestions can be chosen with the keyboard (arrows, Enter,
Esc) and are announced by screen readers.
 * Default colors of the Signed page banner are darker, so the white text is readable(
contrast above 4.5:1); sites still using the old defaults are updated, customized
   colors are not touched.

#### 2.1.1

 * Sent documents: sortable columns (signer, template, status, date) like the WordPress
Posts list, plus an “Order” selector in the filters; the chosen order is kept
   while filtering and paging.
 * New template pages: the text links (“Change category”, “See all other categories”,“
Create an empty template”) are now proper buttons.
 * Send document: contacts can also be found by typing the email address (first
and second signer); picking one fills every field.
 * Send document: optional “Save the minor in my contacts” checkbox for minor consent
   templates (off by default, Pro).
 * Full PDF: the consent proofs are now added on extra pages also with the Brand
and Sidebar layouts (Pro); before, the full PDF was identical to the normal one
   with those layouts.
 * Signed page appearance: with Pro active the logo is managed in one place only,
   the Business profile.
 * Plugin admin pages buffer their output so redirects after saving work on any
   server.

#### 2.1.0

 * New Dashboard as the first menu item: four counters (awaiting signature, opened
but not signed, signed in the last 7 days, created this month), quick actions
and the latest five documents. The templates list moved to its own menu item (“
Template”, slug consensosmart-template); old links to the templates list are
   redirected automatically.
 * Sent documents page rebuilt: search by name, email or template title, filter
by status, clickable per-status counts, real pagination (20 per page), round
icon row actions with accessible labels, “sent N days ago” for unsigned documents,
and a “Resend” button (POST, nonce, permission and ownership checks, at most
one resend every 5 minutes per document, logged). Opening dates are now loaded
with a single query for the whole page instead of one query per row.
 * Signed page appearance: settings grouped in sections, live side preview of the“
Document signed” page, a contrast check for white text on the chosen colors,
and the WordPress color picker is now actually loaded.
 * Consent proof page: summary strip with the key data, sections with icons, clearly
visible download buttons and a “Copy” button for the public verification link.
   The data shown is unchanged.
 * Trash: icon row actions, the permanent-deletion notice shown as a colored box
with the full text available on demand, keyboard-accessible tabs.
 * “Go Pro” pages and the Pro showcase redesigned with the shared design system (
Free vs Pro comparison, one call to action).
 * Accessibility: shared modals now have role=”dialog”, aria-modal, focus management
and close with Esc; contextual help “?” tooltips usable with the keyboard; success
messages shown as auto-dismissing toasts with role=”status”; visible keyboard
focus; prefers-reduced-motion respected; text contrast raised to at least 4.5:
1 for buttons, badges and muted text.
 * Empty states with an icon, a short explanation and a call to action.
 * Fixed PHP 8 deprecation notices caused by hidden admin pages registered with
   a null parent.
 * Fixed a blank page after saving (templates, contacts, lists, bulk send, link
generation) on servers with low or disabled output buffering: plugin admin pages
now buffer their output so the redirect after saving always works.
 * No database schema change. New option: consensosmart_liste_colori (written by
the Pro add-on); new user meta: consensosmart_checklist_nascosta. Both are removed
on uninstall when “delete all data” is enabled.

#### 2.0.28

 * Extended admin styles (chips, cards) for the Pro add-on’s advanced privacy settings
   page.

#### 2.0.27

 * Admin interface refresh: colored per-section icons on the “Send document” page,
a clearer templates list with round icon action buttons (send, edit, trash) and
   a category icon column.
 * System templates are now highlighted with a distinct color and a lock badge,
and can no longer be ticked for bulk actions. Removed the “Created on” column
   from the templates list.
 * New shared admin styles (toggle cards, option cards, colored icon badges) used
   by the extended interface.

#### 2.0.23

 * Verified all output-buffer (ob_start) usages close correctly on every code path.
Added an in-scope shutdown-function safety net on the signature-save AJAX handler,
whose buffer was closed by a shared helper called from many exit points rather
than directly in the same function body.

#### 2.0.22

 * Fixed Plugin Check warnings/errors on the backup-restore summary notice: added
missing per-line nonce-verification exceptions and explicit integer casts at
   the point of output.

#### 2.0.21

 * Rewrote the “★ Scopri Pro” showcase page as a proper feature overview (benefit-
focused copy, icon cards for each Pro feature, pricing) instead of a bare admin-
editable form. Content is written directly in the plugin for now: still a pure
promotional page with no functional Pro code involved.

#### 2.0.20

 * Added a new “★ Scopri Pro” showcase page: a purely promotional dashboard (video
and screenshots, editable from the admin panel without needing a new plugin release)
presenting ConsensoSmart Pro. No functional Pro code involved: matches the same
locked-feature-free pattern already used on the other upsell screens.

#### 2.0.19

 * Removed the full Pro template catalog (real, ready-to-use legal text for 30+
templates) from the Free plugin: it was only reachable through a locked upsell
screen, which is not allowed for plugins hosted on WordPress.org even when the
feature isn’t user-selectable. The catalog now lives exclusively in the separately-
   sold Pro plugin.
 * Removed direct reading of Pro-only business profile and PDF layout customization
data from the Free plugin’s own code. The Free plugin now only exposes empty
extension points (filters) that the Pro plugin can hook into: no Pro functionality
is implemented in the Free codebase anymore.
 * Updated the bundled Signature Pad library from v4.1.6 to the latest stable v5.1.3.

#### 2.0.18

 * Backup restore now tells you clearly when skipped documents were just already
active vs. hidden in the trash/deleted, and offers a one-click “bring back to
light” button to un-hide them, instead of a generic “already present, skipped”
   message

#### 2.0.17

 * Added “Solo aperti” to the CSV export status filter, plus an explanatory note
   about what the CSV contains
 * Added a working “include trashed documents” filter to the bulk PDF ZIP download(
the old status dropdown from the pre-refactor plugin looked functional but was
actually ignored by the code behind it — not carried over)

#### 2.0.16

 * PDF title now wraps onto multiple lines instead of ever being cut off by the
page edge — this was a latent issue in the minimal layout too, not just the Pro
brand/sidebar ones, just never triggered by short test titles

#### 2.0.15

 * New: email notification on every signature (both for single-signature documents
and for each of the two signatures on a double-signature document): one confirmation
email to the signer and one alert to the site administrator

#### 2.0.14

 * consensosmart_genera_pdf() now supports the “brand” and “sidebar” PDF layouts(
colored header/sidebar, “Firmato digitalmente” badge) via a Pro filter hook,
falling back cleanly to the minimal layout when Pro isn’t active

#### 2.0.13

 * Template dropdown on the Send Document page now shows your own templates first(
newest first), with the 3 built-in system templates always last in a fixed order(
Liberatoria generica, Consenso privacy standard, Consenso minori), instead of
   alphabetical order

#### 2.0.12

 * Fixed 2.0.11: the second signer also has a WhatsApp send option (not just email),
so added the missing Telefono field for them too, matching the first signer

#### 2.0.11

 * Replaced the single “Contact (phone or email)” field on the Send Document page
with two separate Email and Telefono fields, for both signers. The dedicated
   email_primo/telefono_primo/email_secondario/telefono_secondario columns already
existed in the database and were already read by the WhatsApp/Email placeholders
and the Pro contacts address book, but were never actually filled in from the
form — contacts saved from here always had a blank Email field

#### 2.0.10

 * “Save these texts as defaults for this template” on the Send Document page is
now a real working button with Pro active, instead of just an upsell label
 * Restyled the “New template” page header to match the rest of the admin (full
   width, consistent header layout)

#### 2.0.9

 * Reordered the admin menu: “New template” now appears right after “Templates” (
position 2) instead of after the contacts/lists group, matching the order from
   before the Free/Pro split

#### 2.0.8

 * Fixed the Trash page losing track of which tab (Documents/Contacts/Templates)
you were on after moving an item to trash, restoring it, or permanently deleting
it: it always jumped back to the Documents tab regardless of where the action
   happened

#### 2.0.7

 * The “Download JSON” button on the Consent Proof page is now conditional on Pro
being active (it was always locked, even with Pro), matching the same pattern
   used for the PDF download

#### 2.0.6

 * Fixed the Trash page’s bulk action buttons for the Contacts and Templates tabs,
which were wired to “move to trash” instead of “restore/permanently delete”:
individual row actions were already correct, only the bulk buttons at the top
   were affected

#### 2.0.5

 * Restored the “data on uninstall” preference (Aspetto page) that lets you choose
whether data is wiped or preserved when the plugin is deleted: this setting existed
before but had no screen to actually change it

#### 2.0.4

 * Fixed the “send by email” action for a dual-signature document’s second signer,
which incorrectly reported “document not found” (was only checking the primary
   token)
 * Added a hook fired after a document is successfully sent, so the separate Pro
plugin can automatically save signers to its contact directory
 * Removed remaining mentions of “WordPress” from a couple of user-facing texts
 * Corrected wording of the system template protection notice so it no longer implies
the restriction is specific to the free version

#### 2.0.3

 * Reverted system template protection to be unconditional again (never deletable,
even with Pro active): allowing it risked leaving a Free-only site with zero
usable templates if Pro is later removed
 * Fixed the dual signature checkbox on the send form never actually reflecting
a template’s real setting (was hardcoded), which silently prevented the second
   signer’s fields from ever appearing

#### 2.0.2

 * Fixed several places where Pro-only UI elements (upsell hints, feature badges,
system template protection) stayed visible or hidden regardless of whether the
separate Pro plugin was actually active: they now correctly reflect the real
   Pro status
 * Documents list “Backup and exports” panel now shows the real, working export/
backup forms when Pro is active, instead of always showing the upsell placeholder
 * Trash page now shows Contacts/Templates tabs when Pro is active (they can only
ever contain something with Pro’s contact directory and custom template features)

#### 2.0.1

 * Added a single filter hook (`consensosmart_richiede_doppia_firma_permessa`) and
the corresponding data handling for a second signer’s contact details, used exclusively
by the separate Pro plugin to enable dual signature. Default behavior unchanged:
the filter always returns false unless explicitly hooked, so the free version
continues to support single signature only, exactly as before

#### 2.0.0

 * Removed the licensing system and all artificial limits from the free version (
previously: max 3 templates, max 20 contacts). The free version is now fully
functional on its own, per WordPress.org guidelines: unlimited templates from
the catalog, unlimited sending, single signature, basic PDF and public verification,
with no license check and no external calls at all
 * Dual signature, contact directory, lists/bulk sending, custom template saving,
advanced Privacy Policy, Company Profile and CSV/backup are now exclusively part
of a separate Pro plugin, sold and distributed outside WordPress.org, that hooks
into the free version: never bundled or license-gated inside this plugin
 * New identity display helper used consistently across the document text, PDF and
proof of consent, fixing several inconsistencies between a business’s registered
   name and its signing representative
 * Various security hardening and code cleanup
 * Developed with the assistance of AI coding tools, under the author’s direction
   and review

#### 1.2.0

 * Added full identifying data for minors in “minor’s consent” templates (first
name, last name, tax code required; residence optional)
 * Proof of consent and PDF now show the full identity of each signer (first name,
last name, tax code for individuals; company name, contact person, VAT number
for businesses), including the second signer in dual-signature documents

#### 1.1.0

 * Added licensing system for the Pro version (activation, daily check, immediate
   remote deactivation)
 * Added free version limits: max 3 templates, max 20 contacts, no dual signature,
no lists/bulk sending, no export/import/backup, no advanced Privacy Policy/Company
   Profile/PDF Layout configuration
 * Fixed email autocomplete for the second signer in dual-signature documents
 * Added basic anti-tampering protections to the license check

#### 1.0.0

 * First public release
